My name is Larry Hansen and I will be your Social Studies teacher this year.   I have been a public school teacher for 10 years teaching a variety of classes from American History, Government, World History and Geography and Global Cultures. I have worked for a variety of school districts in Arizona. I have been a teacher and sponsor of a class called We the People in which students really get an opportunity to spend time with the constitution and compete against other schools in a speech and debate type format. Until recently I taught for 8 years at ITT Technical Institute as a full time instructor. I teach general education courses that include Psychology, Social Psychology, Global Studies, English 101 and 102 and a few other classes.  Now I teach Social Studies at a High School here in Arizona.
I have lived in New York, California and Arizona, Arizona being the longest, so I have seen a lot of different climates. Arizona is a great place in the winter, but takes some acclimating in the summer.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Arizona State University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Northern Arizona University. It seems that as a teacher you are always in school.
Though I live in Arizona, I am a big Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. I do follow sports and had an opportunity to play several in high school and college. Unfortunately it ended there, but it was a good experience for me.
My wife and I have three boys that keep us pretty busy. The oldest is 19 and the youngest is 12.       In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with the family doing various activities. We have a Wii, so there is usually a Friday or Saturday night of racing, bowling or tennis with the kids as well as a bit of Xbox. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and being a part of your educational experience. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
