Biography

Hello!  As a graduate of Mountain View High School I am delighted to be back, teaching SC09 Essential Elements of Science.  I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and spent the next decades working in manufacturing circuit materials and parts for mainframe computers. I moved to Canada where I manufactured pumps for oilfield applications.  Later my career took a turn to monitoring ambient air quality in Alberta, Canada, which was both very interesting and rewarding.  I have lots of stories and insights about how science and math is useful in the working world!

I moved back to the Valley with my husband and three children, largely for the winter weather, but also because I was confident that my children would have excellent educational choices and experiences in Mesa, and they were not disappointed!  My oldest is studying at ASU, and my younger two children are in high school in Mesa Public Schools.

Throughout my career I've always appreciated the high quality instruction and excellent preparation I had for college and career, particularly in math and science. (Does anyone from Mesa Schools remember Mr. Brengle, Mr. Slade, Mr. Anderson, or Mr. Rice? to name a few!)  I feel so grateful and inspired by those dedicated math and science teachers that gave me so much, that it seemed right for me to give back through teaching.

I'm looking forward to teaching science this year at Mountain View.  This course is an important foundation to chemistry and physics that the students will study in more depth later. I hope to help the students see how interesting and useful a knowledge of science can be, and to help them be prepared to take advantage of the opportunities that they uncover in their own futures.
