Degrees: M.Ed. in Secondary Education | B.A. in English | B.S. in Molecular Biology
Raised by two educators, I highly value education and life-long learning. The vast majority of my education has occurred right here in Arizona. I graduated from Mesquite High School (GPS) and went to Arizona State University where I earned a B.S. in molecular biology. I left the desert for a year and moved to Oahu, Hawaii to attend the University of Hawaii where I completed a year of graduate school. Although I loved the island and the subject of my studies, something was missing from my experience there. I decided to pursue other passions. I became a certified yoga teacher and I wrote web content for businesses and professionals. I have always loved writing and literature, and so I decided to pursue a second degree in English. This pursuit, in combination with my experiences as a yoga teacher, led me to the classroom and to my third degree from ASU: A Masters in Secondary Education.
I ardently believe that students today need and deserve quality education and passionate teachers. Students' experiences here at Mountain View are the foundation of their adult lives. I am proud to be teaching here at a campus that promotes excellence.
When I'm not teaching or preparing to teach, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband, Casey, and our two Scottie dogs, Dexter and Zoë. My hobbies include reading, yoga, SCUBA diving, hiking, backpacking, cooking and much more. I love to travel both at home and abroad. I've spent time in 21 states, Canada, the Bahamas, South Caicos, Mexico, Italy, England, Kenya and Costa Rica. My hope is to continue to broaden the scope and depth of my understanding of the world. My favorite authors include (but are by no means limited to) Jane Austin, John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway and Barbara Kingsolver.
