Walter Temme has been the Director of Orchestras at Mountain View High School since August 1994 and taught previously in the Scottsdale School District. He also serves as the director of the Phoenix Youth Symphony Symphonette Orchestra, a position he has held since 1988. His education includes a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Instrumental Music from Arizona State University, a Master of Music in Conducting from Kansas State University and a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from University of the Pacific. He has served as an officer of the Arizona Unit of the American String Teachers Association and has held leadership positions in the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association. In demand as an orchestral conductor, adjudicator and clinician, Dr. Temme has been a clinician and conductor of regional and honor orchestras throughout Arizona. His honors include the O.M. Hartsell Excellence in Education, Arizona Music Educator of the Year (AMEA 2010) and Arizona Public School Orchestra Teacher of the Year (ASTA 2013). His orchestras have performed at the Mid-Western International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, the Arizona Music Educators Association In-Service Conference, Carnegie Hall, as well as international orchestra festivals in Russia and Austria.

Mountain View Chamber Orchestra Performs at AMEA Conference
The Mountain View Chamber Orchestras performed in an exclusive Honor Performance at the Mesa Convention Center for the Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA) In-Service Conference on Friday, February 3, 2017. This nationally recognized ensemble was invited to perform in this exclusive concert performing works by Josef Suk, Leos Janacek and Antonin Dvorak in a collection of works playfully titled The "Czech-It-Out" Suite, along with the Concerto in E-flat major, Op. 109 for Alto Saxophone by Alexander Glazunov with featured soloist, Dr. Christopher Creviston, professor of saxophone at Arizona State University.
