Schools Family Culture night is monthly event during the school
year and month of June where families are invited to join us for
an evening of learning and fun.
- Cultural
presenters
A speaker or performer who shares his or her expertise and experiences.
Past presenters include dancers, musicians, artists, craftsmen,
and historians from other tribes and cultures across America.
If you have something interesting to present let us know.
- Crafts/Activities
for all ages.
- Bring a snack
to share.

February's Family
Culture Night featured Miss Indian Arizona Evereta Thinn.
Ms.Thinn performed, spoke of her duties as Miss Indian Arizona,
and encouraged students to take part in positive activities.

Family Culture
Night - November 20, 2007
For November's Familiy Culture Night we had Leonard Dempsey
from the Yaqui tribe presenting cultural information and news
from the Yaqui tribe. The parents and students made gingerbread
men and wreaths for the holiday season. We also would like
to thanks our volunteers: Michaela Shirley and Terrance Grey
from ASU and Carolyn Wong.

Night - September 25, 2007
There was a good turn out with six families attending. Our
speaker for the evening was Linda Winters from E.V.I.T. She
shared information regarding classes and programs at E.V.I.T.

Family Culture
Night - October 23, 2007
October's Family Culture Night was fun! We carved pumpkins
and made scarecrow wall hangers. Our cultural presenter was
Sylvia Jackson from the Navajo Nation who shared the stories
and traditions of the Navajo basket. We also had local news
reporter Andy Harvey from Channel 12 News. Andy shared what
he does on the job and how students can start preparing for
a career in journalism.
