Register now for summer STEM, Robotics Camps
STEM Camp, June 4-8, is for fourth- through sixth-graders. Robotics Camp, June 11-15, is for fourth- through eighth-graders. Both camps are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Engineering Lab at Red Mountain High, 7301 E. Brown Road, Mesa. Students throughout MPS are welcome. Registration is open.
STEM Camp
In STEM Camp, students explore the exciting and challenging world of science, technology, engineering and math.
Hands-on activities focus on mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity and electronics, ballistics and aerospace, and robotics and programming.
The $100 fee includes materials, supplies, use of computers, software, all equipment and daily snacks.
Robotics Camp
Robotics Camp offers opportunities for project-based experiences in robot design and teamwork, mechanics and power, programming and logic, sensors and controls, and robotics careers.
The $120 fee includes materials, supplies, use of LEGO Mindstorms robots, Parallax Boe Bots, Tetrix Robotics Systems and daily snacks.
2012 Red Mountain STEM and Robotics Camps are staffed by high school and college mentors and a professional engineer, under the direction of Brent Kellis, Red Mountain engineering and math teacher.
Camps are conducted in the Red Mountain High engineering lab at 7301 E. Brown Road, Mesa. The lab is equipped with computers; industry-standard software, electronics, pneumatics, and robotics trainers; and complete fabrication facilities.
