Mesa Public Schools partners with Benedictine University on scholarships for employees, students
The annual Mesa Partnership Scholarship assists eligible district graduates, employees and dependents of employees with college tuition at the Mesa university.
Mesa Public Schools has partnered with Benedictine University to offer a scholarship to eligible district graduates, employees and dependents of employees. The $3,000 Mesa Partnership Scholarship is for full-time traditional undergraduate students enrolled beginning fall 2016 at Benedictine University at Mesa. It may be annually renewed if students maintain good academic standing.
"The Mesa Partnership Scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for district graduates and employees to pursue a postsecondary degree," says Dr. Michael Cowan, superintendent. "Mesa values education, and I am grateful Benedictine recognizes that investing in our graduates and employees will strengthen our community. I look forward to identifying other opportunities to partner with the university."
Also eligible for the scholarship are City of Mesa employees or dependents of employees, and Mesa Community College students with 60 credit hours or an associate degree. The partnership is a result of a joint effort to provide higher education opportunities to the community. The scholarship was announced at Mesa Mayor John Giles' recent state of the city address.
"We were contemplating what more we can do for city workers, students and employees and this all came about as a topic for consideration that has now become more than an idea, but something that can actually be made possible," says Charlie Gregory, campus executive officer of Benedictine University at Mesa.
