Class of 2009 receives $50 million in scholarships

Graduating seniors of the seven high schools in Mesa Public Schools have received scholarship offers of more than $50 million. The total is $6 million more than the previous class.

This is the second honor in as many months for the district. Mesa Public Schools was named last month as No. 1 in graduation rates among the nation’s 50 largest cities by America’s Promise Alliance for the second consecutive year. The scholarships offers for each school are:


Dobson - $7.8 million

East Valley Academy - $40,100

Mesa High - $5.4 million

Mountain View - $12 million

Red Mountain - $10 million

Skyline - $3.9 million

Westwood - $10.2 million
