Zaharis to host literacy conference
2016 Newbery Honor Medal recipient Pam Muñoz Ryan will headline the March 25 event.
Registration is open for Echoes of Learning, the 2017 Zaharis Elementary literacy conference. The conference offers teachers throughout the valley the opportunity to hear from three renowned authors and engage with fellow educators. Attendees will observe teacher-student teams modeling literacy strategies during breakout sessions.
Program
The three keynote speakers are:
Pam Muñoz Ryan, 2016 Newbery Honor Medal recipient and 2018 Hans Christian Andersen nominee and author of Echoes and Esperanza Rising
Donalyn Miller, Manager of Independent Reading and Outreach at Scholastic and author of The Book Whisperer
Frank Serafini, 2014 Distinguished Professor of Children's Literature and author of the Looking Closely series
The event is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Zaharis Elementary School, 9410 E. McKellips Rd., Mesa. Lunch will be provided.

Through March 9, registration fees are $40 for professional educators and $20 for full-time students. Beginning March 10, the fees are $50 and $30 respectively.
