What does the PTO do?

The Parent Teacher Organization is focused on improving the educational experience of each child at O'Connor Elementary. Our job is to make sure that the teachers have the resources they need to make their job easier, thus enabling them to teach our children more efficiently. Each year, we work with the teachers to find out what they need. Whether we purchase encyclopedias, teaching tools or playground equipment, the focus is always to make our child's experience a more positive one. The great thing about PTO is that EVERY parent can be involved and have a say in how we spend PTO funds. Parents can work with teachers and other PTO members to make sure our school is performing at its best. Even a little goes along way when everyone pitches in. We want the O'Connor Community back in the school.

 

 

The most common comment we hear as PTO members is, "I would like to help, but I just don't have the time." We hear you loud and clear! In fact, that is why we are making such a big push this year to get everyone involved. If we could get one or two parents from each classroom to give an hour of their time each month, the effort to improve our school will go much smoother.

Financial help: If you just don't have the time but would like to help, there is still something you can do. You can support such fundraisers as cookie dough, pizza night and box tops. Success in these fundraisers will eventually cut down the amount we have to earn at events. Or, if you are feeling really generous, you could even donate to the PTO directly.
