Title I School Improvement Specialist
My role as a School Improvement Specialist has two interconnected sets responsibilities at both the district office and school site. I work in conjunction with district leadership and various departments to enhance teacher effectiveness and student achievement, as well as with Mr. Eshman to implement, support, mentor, and facilitate in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment at O'Connor including the Title I program. It is my pleasure to work with the O'Connor students, staff, and community.
Born and raised in Rhode Island, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at the University of Rhode Island. A year later I moved to Arizona where I earned a Master's of Education degree from Arizona State University, and began teaching in the Mesa School District in 1995. I taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades at Longfellow Elementary, and 4th grade at Barbara Bush Elementary. In 2002 I took a position with the Basic Skills Department where I helped open Zaharis Elementary, and over the course of 8 years, I had an opportunity to support the students and teachers at Falcon Hill, MacArthur, and Edison Elementary Schools in that role. In 2009 the Curriculum and Instruction Department was restructured, and I was offered a position as a Title I School Improvement Specialist. I have been a part of the O'Connor community since 2010.
