A Few Classes Are Still Available


 
 

Parent University has only a few classes that are still available to take this school year.  Don’t miss out on these last opportunities to improve your parenting skills.  The topics of the classes focus on parenting girls, building resilience in teens, study skills, dealing with ADHD, health effects of energy drinks, and the academic skills of reading with young learners.  We hope you can fit at least one into your busy schedules.  Registration is easily done at www.mpsaz.org/parentu  or by phoning 480-472-0371.

“SHE CALLS ME DADDY”

This class is sponsored and taught by experts from Child Crisis Arizona. It emphasizes that the role of fathers is critical in child development and what and how they teach their daughters clearly shapes their future.  This session will examine the impact that fathers can have on their daughters’ self-esteem, relationship skills, physical, emotional and spiritual development, personal growth and work ethic.  2 HOUR CERTIFICATE

“BUILDING RESILIENCE IN TEENS”

Are you concerned that your child gives up too easily?  Do they have the backbone to stand strong in the face of peer pressure and easy access to drugs and alcohol?  “Bubble wrap” your teen with resiliency skills so they have what it takes to navigate the tough stuff in life.  Each workshop is set up as an individual class so parents can attend the ones that work best for their schedule or come to all.  Come join the conversation!  Learn, laugh, and walk away with great tools for your parenting tool belt! 2 HOUR CERTIFICATE FOR EACH CLASS

“FOCUS AND LEARN TO STUDY”

This class is geared for 4th grade and above.  BRING YOUR OLDER CHILD (REN) WITH YOU and learn how to improve their learning, understanding, and ultimately their grades.  Welcome to Study Skills 101!  This workshop will help you be a better student by  teaching you how your brain learns, organizes, and retains information so that you can remember it for the test, or better yet, to use in real life! 2 HOUR CERTIFICATE

“ADHD at FIELD”

Parents, if you have a child with ADHD and learning disabilities come and learn effective coping skills for yourself and how to help your child.  The presenter is a mother, author and educator.  She will share her personal insights and coping strategies.

“THE READING CIRCUIT” 

The Reading Circuit was developed to give parents an overview of the 5 areas of reading.  Participants will receive valuable tools they can use to support their child(ren)  at home when learning  the  reading  process. Whether you have a struggling or a confident reader, the tools and information discussed will help to encourage a love of reading, and support children’s reading skills overall.  The tools presented and created in class are easy to implement, and allow families to practice reading skills in a fun and positive format. 2 HOUR CERTIFICATE
