Biography

Coach Mike Roelofs (pronounced "roll offs") began teaching physical education and reading in 2002 with the Isaac School District in central Phoenix.  He has been teaching P.E. at Patterson since the 2006-2007 school year.  As a traveling teacher he spent one year at Zaharis Elementary.  In 2009 he became the school based teacher at Patterson.  Mike enjoys working with the Patterson community and hopes to continue to serve its population through retirement.

Mike attended the prestigious Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa.  In 2002 he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from the "Harvard of teacher education," the University of Northern Iowa.  Since then Mike has received his Structured English Imersion endorsement through the English Language Acquisition Department of Mesa Public Schools.

In 2016, Mike was presented with the Mesa Public Schools Educator of the Month Award.

One of the reasons Mike came into this profession is to show his students that physical activity is fun, and to instill in them the value that it is important to stay active and be healthy as a child and as an adult.  He hopes that his students are active outside of school and continue to be physically active throughout their lifetime.
