My name is Ms. Annie and I am new to Pomeroy as I will be replacing Ms. Amy this year. I am a Montessori teacher in the K-1 classroom. I have my certification from the AMS program at South Mountain Community College, and I have a Bachelors Degree from Ottawa University.
As a teacher for over ten years, I am passionate about the Montessori philosophy where the fundamentals consist of education that encourages independence and concentration. Through instilling the discipline needed to inspire diligent workers, the Montessori principals ignite the flame of curiosity, promoting areas explored where only the thrust of knowledge will satisfy.
I started as an outside environment teacher while my children were in a toddler and a primary Montessori program. After working as an outside environment teacher for two years I became a Montessori assistant and fell in love with the program. I than decided to become Montessori trained in this special type of education. I had been a lead teacher at Montessori Day School for the last six years and I've loved it. I was drawn to Montessori education when my children were very young, as it was a rich environment full of resources for the children. The center of interest for me was the child led, focus system, supporting cognitive thinking, full of natural consequences. I am excited to be able to be a part of the Pomeroy staff this year. It's going to be a great year.
