Welcome to first grade!  I am as excited as any of the children when each new school year begins, and I look forward to getting to know each of my students and their families.   

I have been teaching first grade for Mesa Public Schools since 1996.  My undergraduate degree in Elementary Education was earned at Arizona State University, and masters degree in Bilingual Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University.  I am also fully endorsed to teach Reading, children of Early Childhood age,  and English as a Second Language.

Being an Arizona native, I enjoy outdoor activities with friends and family.  My husband and I have been married since 1976 and have lived in west Mesa since 1978.  We have two daughters who both attended Mesa Public Schools.  My favorite part of first grade is teaching children to enjoy reading as much as I do, and I am also excited to be implementing the new Common Core standards for first grade this year!
