Montessori 1st-3rd Grade
Mrs. Phillips- Room 7
Hello Families! As you know we will begin the 2020-2021 school year with remote learning on August 4th. We will be using the Canvas learning platform for online instruction. The Montessori curriculum, materials, and philosophy will be integrated into the program to align with the classroom environment as closely as possible. I will be here to support students and parents as we navigate this new learning format. With patience, flexibility, and positivity, I am confident we will have a successful school year. I am so excited to re-connect with my current students as well as meet my new 1st and 2nd graders!
Video- Inside the Montessori Classroom
I started teaching in 2002 after earning a degree in elementary education at NAU. I taught 4th grade for one year in California, while my husband was stationed there in the Navy. We then came back home to Arizona, and I began teaching in Mesa. I taught 4th grade for four more years at Lindbergh Elementary.
I continued my own education earning an ESL endorsement, reading endorsement, and masters degree in language and literacy through ASU. I became a Reading Interventionist at Lindbergh, and loved working with all grade levels.
When I had my own children, I enrolled them in Mesa's Montessori program. I fell in love with Montessori, both as a parent and a teacher. I then completed training to earn an Elementary Credential through the American Montessori Society.
I am so grateful to be your child's teacher. It is such a joy to watch students learn about their world as they become readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, historians, artists, and peacemakers. I love witnessing their academic, social, and emotional growth.
