                        Dear Parents:

        Mesa Public Schools is proud to offer an art program for fourth, fifth and sixth grade students.
Your child has the opportunity to work with a certified art teacher every other week.
A special art curriculum was developed for each grade level. Students learn to
create art, study art in civilization and assess artwork. Also, students learn an art
vocabulary, and sometimes are given tests and homework just like in other classes.

            The grades in art are as follows:

            O = Outstanding
            S = Satisfactory
            I = Improving
            N = Needs improvement

            For an outstanding grade (O), a student needs to do the following:

            1. Follow directions
            2. Complete assignments
            3. Do his/her best work
            4. Behave appropriately

            If possible, please provide your child with an art shirt (this can be an old large shirt or apron)
that can be worn as a cover-up when we are working with paint, clay or other messy materials.

            If you have any questions or concerns during the year,
I can be reached on the day your child has art at the school  (472-6700)
leave a message and I will return your call.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Perry
