AZ PBIS Award 2018 Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports

I am very excited to let our awesome community know that Porter received a huge honor from the state of Arizona for our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) implementation.  We are receiving the PBIS AZ Merit Award and are among only a handful of schools across the state who are getting this recognition.  Thank you to staff, parents and students for making Porter a respectful, responsible and safe school!

Rosanne Carlson 2015 Rodel Exemplary Teacher

Third-grade Porter teacher Rosanne Carlson was selected as a 2015 Rodel Exemplary Teacher. Mrs. Carlson has taught for 28 years in Mesa Public Schools and will mentor high-potential student teachers. "The most enjoyable aspects of teaching are watching the students grow each year," Carlson says. "You experience the joy they feel when they accomplish a new task, large or small. It is amazing to see their personalities develop. I love getting to know the families, and many former families are now friends."
