The Parent Organization of Porter Board is made up of 4 parent volunteers who dedicate their time and energy, along with many other energetic parents to help the school raise money for special activities and supplies. Every year is different, new, and challenging. We are always looking for parents to be a part of this team.

"Did You Know"
.....That P.O.P. is a parent organization with its board members made up of parents just like you?
.....P.O.P. raises money for the school that provides funding for special needed supplies  and activities for your students and their teachers ?
.....P.O.P. welcomes all parents from every walk of life to attend and participate in their child's school. Meetings are held every first Tuesday of each month.
.....P.O.P. holds popcorn sales every Friday during lunch in the gym, and the money raised is put into a special account that is used to purchase supplies and take care of many special requests made by teachers and staff.
.....P.O.P. collects Box Tops for Education.  Please save all boxtops and send to school with your child.  The box tops are counted and bundled monthly.  Porter earns money from the collection of boxtops.  Thanks to everyone who has helped us out.  If this information is new to you, we hope you will join in our quest to save and collect these boxtops for education.
.....Did you know P.O.P. has purchased many things for Porter School over the years such as:
 
.....Shade Ramada for Intermediate Playground 2002-2003 Installed Aug. of 2003
.....Shade Ramada's for kindergarten and Primary playgrounds/2001-2002
.... Kiln: Used for art projects for the whole school
.... Popcorn machine which can be used by any classroom
.... Marquee, Our school did not have a marquee for almost 6 years. P.O.P. raised funds and dedicated part of the funds to purchase the marquee.
.... Many grade level specials
.... Writing Programs
.... Math Programs
.... Owl Pellets and butterfly larvae
.... Computer software and Printers
.... Theater Arts package. These are plays and programs every child attends 2-3 times per year.
.... Sponsors Battle of the Books for 5th & 6th graders
.... Student incentives: class parties and group parties
.... Scholarships for summer school, field trips, etc.
.... Sponsors Art Masterpiece. Every year the students vote on their favorite print and P.O.P. pays to have the print mounted, engraved and framed. The prints from the last 9 years are displayed in the hallways of the school.
.... Shade Ramada on the playground between the swings was purchased with funds raised by Parents of Porter.
.... Stage Curtains and black back drop in the MPR (gym)
 
.....P.O.P. has basically fulfilled a wish list that was created back in 92-93 by a Porter parent's survey. We hope this will help you better understand the importance of fund raisers done by P.O.P. and Student Council here at Porter. As many of you already know our schools do not receive adequate funding to cover all the special needs our students  and teachers require. Our involvement as parents is very important. Our children need us to be involved. The more interest we show in our children's education the more interest they show, which only benefits our children and our community.
