Hi, my name is Amy Johnson and I have been teaching for 12 years. This will be my seventh year teaching Pre-K. I am a graduate of Brigham Young University, go Cougars! I am an Arizona native. I was born in Safford, AZ but grew up right here in Mesa, AZ. I have two wonderful children, Britton, who is 18 and will be leaving to serve a 2 year mission to Paraguay for our church at the beginning of September; and Emeri, who is 13 and will be starting 8th grade at Heritage Academy in Mesa. Our family loves to sing and my favorite song at the moment is a choral piece called Stars by Erik Esenvalds. My favorite smells are homemade bread and rain. My favorite season is fall (which is usually around December in Mesa, Arizona). My favorite foods are anything Italian and ice cream. Something interesting about me is I can "tuck" my ears inside themselves. I love teaching, but when I am not thinking about fun and creative ways to stimulate learning in my students, I like to read, spend time with my family, travel, research my family history, shop at garage sales and thrift stores and eat! I’m excited to be part of the Porter family this year!
