Homework in 2nd grade goes home on Mondays as a packet. The packet needs to be returned completed every Friday. Along with the packet students are expected to read for at least 15 minutes every night.
Students receive a homework calendar every Monday. The calendar gives a suggested order to do the homework. As your child finishes each homework assignment check off the portion that they have completed. The homework calendar also includes your child's color for behavior. The homework calendar needs to be signed each night.
Blue- Student is showing true Porter Pride. They are ready to learn. They have had no reminders to stay on task. They have shown good citizenship.
Green- Student is ready to learn. They may have had one or two reminders to focus, but once they were reminded they changed their behavior.
Yellow- Student has had several reminders and need to have a think time. They will fill out a think sheet. The think sheet will let you know what they need to work on. They will bring the think sheet home and it will need to be signed.
Orange- Student is struggling to follow directions. Once a student has an orange then they will miss out on activity. They can miss out on recess or some fun activity the class is doing.
Red- Student has had a very difficult day. Once student reaches red then parent will be contacted.
