National Academic League
Congratulations NAL! West Division Champions!
The National Academic League motivates and recognizes academic athletes much like their athletic counterparts. It successfully combines the important aspects of team sports: competitiveness, strategy, teamwork and cooperation in a group effort -- with important aspects of learning -- such as problem solving, critical thinking and scholarship.
We play an academic season just like an athletic season. The games resemble athletic events and include home and away games, four quarters, time-outs, high scorers, and strategy. Four separate quarters in each game emphasize different skills such as problem solving, teamwork, and quick recall. Our question bank spans 22 subjects grouped under the basic subject curriculum areas of math, English/language arts, science and social studies. By each season's end, each league has determined a champion school that participates in the National Tournament conducted through video conferencing.
