As Poston's athletic director, I am committed to developing an athletic program that provides our junior high athletes with opportunities for physical, mental, emotional, and social development in a safe, supportive, and competitive environment. Coaches are proficient in providing instruction in the fundamentals of their sports, in promoting participation, and in encouraging good sportsmanship. It has been my experience as a parent, teacher, coach, and administrator that students who become involved in, and make a connection to, their school communities are often the most successful. Athletics and other extra-curriculars provide excellent opportunities for students to become involved on campus in non-academic arenas. The true value of participation in athletics often reveals itself throughout the course of a season, and throughout a lifetime, as students develop a sense of competitiveness, compassion, perseverance, responsibility, and integrity, in addition to awakening a lifelong love of sport and physical fitness. Please encourage your son or daughter to participate in sports, not only at Poston, but also throughout their high school careers and beyond.
