Ms. Eilene Dougherty
After earning undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Psychology from Bloomfield College in New Jersey, I moved to Arizona in 1984. After a few years in the business world, I decided to pursue a career in education. I completed the Post-bac program at ASU and became certified to teach Social Studies. I started my teaching career in Mesa at Mesa Jr. High School and spent eight years there teaching 7th and 8th grade Social Studies. In that time I earned a Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in Counseling from NAU. I joined the Poston team in 1999 and spent two years teaching 7th and 9th grade Social Studies. I left for one year for an opportunity to begin my counseling career as a Tobacco Cessation Counselor at Stapley and Powell Jr. Highs. I returned to Poston in 2002 as a part-time counselor and for the next three years divided my time between Poston and Wilson Elementary. I have been a full-time counselor here at Poston since 2005 and have been head counselor since 2009. I look forward to working with you and your student to make their years at Poston the best they can be!
