This will be my 21st year as a teacher. I taught 4th grade for 6 years, then came to Poston in 2007. This will be my 15th year teaching at Poston. I have a BS in Parks and Recreation Management from Northern Arizona University, and received my teaching credentials through ASU. I continued my education to earn an SEI (Structured English Immersion) endorsement and an endorsement in Reading (K-12).
I have two sons and a daughter who are grown and on their own. I also have two rescued, senior Chihuahuas. I call them "the boys". I've had them since they were about a year old. Their names are Ferdinand (Ferdie) and Griffin. The boys greet me happily every day after work. They are sweet dogs.
The most gratifying thing about teaching reading is seeing students get excited about the progress they are making as readers. Students will hear me tell them, "I can work miracles in raising reading levels, but I need miracle workers." Students work hard in our reading class, and I love what I do!
