Ms. Rachel Thune
Ms. Thune grew up in Iowa before attending Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. During her junior year at Wheaton, Ms. Thune received a scholarship to travel to 15 Western European countries through the school's Iron Sharpens Iron (ISI) Program; during her senior year, Ms. Thune received a grant to spend six months conducting field research in Eastern Europe as part of the school's Human Needs and Global Resources (HNGR) Program.
After graduation, Ms. Thune moved to Chicago and completed her Master of Arts in Teaching (Secondary Education) at National Louis University. Over the next four years, Ms. Thune taught environmental science, chemistry, civics, and English on the southwest and northwest sides of the city. Ms. Thune relocated to Mesa in the summer of 2017 to be near loved ones, and she is thrilled to be teaching English Language Arts 8 at Poston.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Thune loves playing with her rescue pup (Leo, a terrier mix), soldering jewelry, listening to podcasts and audiobooks (she's currently enjoying Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone), and camping throughout Arizona and California.
