The administration at Powell Junior High is extremely proud of what
takes place on Powell's campus. We are loaded with a dedicated and
effective faculty and staff, parents who care about their child's
education, and students who are working hard to become successful,

Nancy Guerra Roberts - Principal

I started
my career in education as a 6th grade teacher. I taught 6th
grade for 1 ½ years for Gilbert Public Schools. I then
moved to the junior high and taught Life and Earth Science for 6
years before moving into Counseling at the junior high. I
was a junior high counselor for 2 years and then a high school counselor
at the East Valley Institute of Technology for 5 years. I
was then presented with an opportunity to move into administration.
I was a Team Leader at EVIT for 2 years before taking an Assistant
Principal position with Mesa Public Schools. I spent 1 year
as an Assistant Principal at Carson and was then named Principal
of Powell. This is the beginning of my 4th year at Powell
Junior High.

Kevin Ames - Assistant Principal

I
graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1987attended Western New
Mexico University where I obtained my Bachelors and Masters Degrees.
I started my education career as a Government/Economics teacher
in 1994 at Deming High School. From there, I became the assistant
principal at Tularosa High School in 1998. After that I moved to
Powell Jr. High in 2004 and became the assistant principal.

Sonia Bribiescas - Team Leader
Bachelors Degree, Arizona State University
Masters Degree, Northern Arizona University
A native of Superior, Arizona, I graduated from Superior
High School in 1988. I attended South Mountain Community College
on an athletic scholarship where I earned my Associate of Arts Degree.
I then attended Arizona State University earning a Bachelors of
Arts Degree in Secondary Education in Business. In 2000, I earned
a Masters of Arts Degree in Secondary Education/Technology at Northern
Arizona University.
I began my teaching career at Superior High School
where I taught business and coached basketball and softball. After
teaching in Superior, I taught Math at the East Valley Institute
of Technology for seven years. In 2004, I began teaching Business
at Powell. I served as the Instructional Specialist for one year
before accepting the Team Leader position here at Powell.
I am currently enrolled in the Principal Certificate
program at Northern Arizona University and will soon begin the Superintendent
Certificate program.
