Year 1: BTI (Beginning Teacher Induction)
As emphasized during Teachers New to Teaching (TNT), research clearly shows that classroom teachers are the most influential factor in student learning and achievement. This research also shows that teachers apply new learning more often when professional development is provided over time in an engaging community of educators.
One way Mesa Public Schools is committed to building capacity in our new teachers is through the Beginning Teacher Induction program. This program supports teachers in several critical aspects of the teaching profession; meeting on a regular basis for professional development sessions to discuss classroom management; lesson planning; and, in the spring, observing other teachers’ practices, gathering evidence, and debriefing around the instruction with colleagues using Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching. Information regarding specific cohort assignment will be posted soon. If you have any questions, you may contact the coordinator.
