Biography

Mindy is very excited to be a Professional Development Specialist for Mesa Public Schools. Her primary responsibility is to mentor and support probationary teachers to plan and implement quality instruction while increasing student achievement. She works with teachers at Las Sendas as well as Falcon Hill, Sirrine, Salk, Pomeroy, Porter and Whitman Elementaries. Mindy heads the committee that provides the Standards in Teaching class to probationary teachers in their third year of teaching. In it participants have the opportunity to explore the INTASC standards as they refine their instructional skills. It is the culminating series of classes designed to promote continuous professional growth.

Mindy serves on the writing committee for Mesa where she develops classes around the changes in English Language Arts that come with the common core standards. Her most recently developed class is an offering for K-2 teachers exploring the six instructional shifts in teaching the Common Core English Language Arts standards. Mindy is also a DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) trainer as well as a trainer for Charlotte Danielson's Framework for Teaching.

Mindy came to Mesa and Lowell Elementary from the Laveen School District fourteen years ago. She  loved teaching at Lowell and taught third grade for six years then was a Reading Interventionist for three years. From there she began two fabulous years as a Reading Coach for Red Mountain Ranch and Pomeroy Elementary Schools. 

Mindy holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with endorsements in Early Childhood, Reading and ESL (English as a Second Language.)
