responsibility is to mentor and support probationary teachers to plan and implement quality instruction to increase student achievement. I work with teachers at Las Sendas, Sirrine, and Crismon Elementaries, as well as Rhodes Junior High and Dobson High School. I head the committee that provides the Planning and Reflecting on Instruction class to probationary teachers in their third year of teaching.
In year three, participants have the opportunity to build on what they learned in the year two induction class, unit design. They refine their instructional skills, particularly in the areas of questioning and discussion techniques, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness, while modeling student engagement techniques. It is the culminating series of classes designed to promote continuous professional growth.
Coming to Mesa and Lowell Elementary from the Laveen School District seventeen years ago was the best decision I could have made! While I loved teaching at Lowell where I taught third grade for six years then a Reading Interventionist for three years, I soon began two fabulous years as a Reading Coach for Red Mountain Ranch and Pomeroy Elementary Schools.
I have a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with endorsements in Early Childhood, K-12 Reading and ESL (English as a Second Language.)
