Hello my name is Christopher Valliere and this is my fifth year here at Redbird Elementary. Two of them have been as a first grade teacher and this is the third year in fourth grade. I have my Masters in Elementary Education and my Bachelors in Non-verbal Communications. I always knew that I wanted to become a teacher even as a child. I have been working children for most of life, starting as a youth director at my parish. I believe that I am good at teaching because I am child at heart.
My teaching style is a very hands on method with the material that we are learning in class. Whenever possible the children are up and moving around the room or getting with a partner to try and figure out a problem. A huge example of this is the Chicken life cycle unit that I do with my students every year. This allows the children to learn about the life cycle and get to raise some baby chicks in the process. Most of the materials that we use in the class also allow the children to investigate using counters, cubes, blocks, and other non standard units.
This is the third year that I have been apart of a STEM program that we started at Redbird. It is going very well and I am glad to be given the opportunity to be apart of this. This is just another reason that I love teaching is Science and being it to real life situations.
I am very excited very another exciting year here at Redbird and look forward to many more.
