Welcome to my home page. I am so happy to be a part of the Redbird family. During the 2016-2017 school year, I will be teaching 2nd-3rd gr Special Education in Room D1. Parents, please feel free to stop by and observe or volunteer.
I spent four years working in Special Education for the Tempe School District before joining MPS in 2011. Special Education of young children is my passion. Prior to working in Special Education, I was in mortgage financing for 20 years. I have to say, if I knew teaching was this much fun, I would have done it years ago! I certainly never felt passionate about mortgages like I do about teaching!
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from California State University at Long Beach and completed my teaching classes through Rio Salado College. I am originally from the West, having been born in Nebraska and raised in Wyoming/Colorado until the age of 9, when my family moved to Phoenix. We moved August, 1968 - I remember it was VERY hot when we got here! I attended Hopi Elementary and Arcadia High School, both of which are part of the Scottsdale School District, although they are located in Phoenix. I moved to California after high school to attend college and then returned to the Valley in 1982.
The JOY of my life is my daughter, Michelle. She recently turned 18 and is getting ready to attend the Barrett's Honor College at ASU in the Fall. Michelle and I love camping, board games and movies, as well as making lots of crafts.
Michelle and I have a little dog appropriately named Tiny and three cats -I didn't plan on three, it just happened!
Did I mention I am a huge Johnny Depp fan!
