Performance Indicator # 2 Use developmentally appropriate multimedia resources (e.g., interactive books, educational software, elementary multimedia encyclopedias) to support learning

Subject: Mathematics
 
Title: Giggle Math
 
Grade Level: Kindergarten
 
Time Required: One 30 minute session
 
Description: Students use The Math Carnival Countdown Program (Giggle Factory Section) to choose the correct amount of Giggles.
 

Curriculum Objectives:

  • Math 1M-R2, Demonstrate one-to-one correspondence between elements in collections (sets) (e.g., nine blocks is as many as nine ducks)
 

Materials Needed:

  • Math Carnival Countdown Program
  • Classroom or lab computers
 
Procedure:

  1. Have student (s) open Carnival Countdown and log in.
  2. Have students click on the purple headed character.
  3. The teacher needs to click on the bead icon that is under the question and answer bell and select Level A. ( This could be done ahead of time)
  4. Have the students follow the cues to show the correct number of "laughs." To answer the initial questions the students click on the blue water faucet. After several questions, the students are asked to click the correct number to match the number of "laughs" shown.
  5. The eraser tool may be used to take away incorrect answers.
