Dear Parents

We would like to welcome you and your child to the Rhodes Jr. High World Studies Academy family. Junior high can be an exciting time for kids. They are going through physical changes, experiencing new challenges, and learning to navigating the social networks that can be so difficult at this time. We hope to work hand in hand with you to make this the best possible learning experience for your child. Our teachers and staff have committed to a shared vision of guiding and supporting students in creating their own future stories. This includes making connections with students and working to provide them with opportunities to learn about their own strenghts and skills.

This year we are implementing several key programs to support student achievement for all. One of these programs is an tiered system of supports for students with behavior and or academic struggles. We also have created mentoring programs and clubs designed to support students in developing their self-esteem. We are also working to develop programs that recognize students for taking a lead in lifting up thier peers through words and actions. We are calling these students SuperRhodies and we are recognizing five (5) students each week!

We are continuing our Personal Responsibility In Daily Effort program (PRIDE). This program focuses on helping students develop a system to stay organized with 6 different classes. Each student has been given a 3 ring binder and materials that will help them stay organized. This is just one of many study skills and strategies we will be teaching through the PRIDE program. We also offer tutoring in reading and math after school each Tuesday and Thursday.  Transportation will be provide for students who normally ride the bus.

We would like to encourage all parents to consider the critical role that you play in your child’s academic success. Please know that we consider you a key to student success. Stay involved by talking to your child about their school day. Be sure to ask to see their school binder and to help them understand the importance of being organized and completing their assignments. We have multiple opportunities for you to be involved in school committees like SIAC and PTA.  Please feel free to contact me if you would like information about how you could be a part of those critical support groups.  We look forward to working with you and your child.
