Rhodes Jr. High has a long standing tradition of excellence. We are continuing and building upon that tradition as we open the 2008-09 school year as a World Studies Academy.

So just what is a World Studies Academy? Our curriculum continues to be driven by the Arizona State Standards and those skills that students need in order to be successful on our state’s accountability test (AIMS). However, our mission also includes preparing our students for the 21st century by giving them defined skills that will prepare them to live and work in a world that is changing rapidly before our eyes.

We believe that students need independent learning skills (how to study, how to research, how to evaluate, how to create and present, etc.), as well as technology skills, and communication skills. We also want to empower our students to look at ways they can positively impact their world through service learning and other meaningful activities that allow them to apply the skill sets they are acquiring.
