CLUB/ORGANIZATION INFO:

Travel to Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia on one of Close Up's week-long civic education programs!

One Week On A Close Up Program Will:

  • Motivate your child to become an active participant in our democracy
  • Strengthen their knowledge of how government works
  • Increase their awareness of major national and international issues

How Does It Happen?
It all happens through Close Up's acclaimed learning approach and access to behind-the-scenes resources. Close Up's student programs are packed with seminars, study visits, and exciting hands-on learning activities that cover the legislative process, the judiciary, defense, international relations, the media, current domestic and international issues, and much more.

HOW TO JOIN:

How Do We Get Our Child To Participate In This Program?
All 8th graders will receive on September 5th and a reminder on September 11th an invitation for them and their parents to attend an informational meeting on September 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rhodes Auditorium. Attendance at this meeting is mandatory to be considered for participation. At the meeting you will receive information that you can discuss as a family, and make the decision, if this is a program for your child.

Looking forward to having you attend the informational meeting and participating in one of the most rewarding events that are offered to Rhodes students. Hope to see you all there!

MEETINGS / FEES:

The trip must be paid for in full by the scheduled due date. Parents are encouraged to use the ECA process. Make sure to turn in payments directly to the Rhodes Bookstore (do not mail to Mesa Public Schools or make a donation online).
