SIAC
- School Improvement Advisory Council
The
purpose of SIAC Council is to serve in an advisory capacity
to the school administration for the purpose of providing
the best possible quality of educational experiences for
Rhodes students.
The
Council consists of the principal, teachers or staff representatives
elected/selected by Rhodes staff, and parent/community representatives
of Rhodes. The Representatives serve as liaisons to Rhodes
parents in their area for any questions, concerns, or problems
addressed by SIAC. The elected council consists of seven
staff members and seven parents, in addition to the Principal
and Assistant Principal; there is a proposal to add two
student members to the Council. Each council position is
a two-year term.
The
Council meets during the school year schedule at 5:00 -
6:30 p.m., the second Tuesday of each month in the Media
Center. All meetings are open to the public and all parents
are welcome to attend and give input on issues that affect
the Rhodes community. However, only elected SIAC members
may vote.
If
you are interested in becoming more involved with the leadership
of Rhodes Junior High, please consider joining the School
Improvement and Advisory Committee. To be included on the
ballot for a parent position on the Council, please submit
your name and a brief statement about yourself and/or your
interest in SIAC (75 words or less, please) to Mr. Matt
Devlin, Principal, at mjdevlin@mpsaz.org
or drop it off in the school office. All statements
must be received by the September deadline (see posted deadlines
on the calendar and newsletter). Ballots will be included
in the September newsletter that will be malled in mid-September.
Please complete the ballot and return it to the SIAC mailbox
in the school office by October (see posted deadlines on
the calendar and newsletter).
