Mr. Elvis Kalvans
Hello! My name is Elvis Kalvans and I teach Introduction to Industrial Technology and Woodworking Technology classes here, at Rhodes Junior High. I have lived in Mesa for four years and I moved here from the country of Latvia in Northern Europe.
I grew up on a farm, where I first realized how much I like creating things and making the broken work again. I spent numerous years in commercial construction, later realizing my interest in more complex concepts of manufacturing and construction. In Arizona, I developed an appreciation for the aviation industry and recently spent time working for a general aviation maintenance facility at Falcon Field in Mesa. During my time there, I manufactured parts custom built experimental aircraft and maintained general aviation aircraft.
This will be my first year of teaching. I have my teaching certificate in Industrial Technology, as well as, Agriculture. I am excited to share my knowledge and skills with my students, as well as, equipping them with the basic understanding of industrial technologies.I hope to help my students find their passion, as I have found mine.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife and I spend a lot of time outdoors. I really enjoy rock climbing, dirt biking, and fishing.
