Welcome to Rhodes Junior High! I am so glad you're here.
I graduated from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!) in December of 2019 after completing my degree in Secondary Education - English. I had the privilege of student teaching at Rhodes prior to becoming a certified teacher and I cannot even begin to describe how excited I am to have my very own classroom this year. My overall goal is to share my enthusiasm for literature and composition with your student. I will encourage them to express themselves through language and rhetoric as we spend the year navigating what that may look like.
Here at Rhodes, we have a very unique approach to student-centered learning. This innovative program will teach your student the importance of self-advocacy, as well as student choice, while Social/Emotional Learning simultaneously stimulates their academic and personal growth. The lessons that are covered through Summit, the learning platform we use at Rhodes, will strengthen and enhance speaking and listening skills through culturally relevant pedagogy. In my experience, we tend to work better in groups which contributes to the fact that RJHS is committed to celebrating collaboration in the classroom and in the community.
When I am not teaching your wonderful student, you can find me on explorations with my dog Ollie, laying by the pool with a good book, or curled up on the couch binge watching reality TV. I am both proud and delighted to bee (HA - get it?) a member of The Hive and Rhodes to Success! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding your student or the amazing resources that Rhodes has to offer.
