I was born and raised in Texas, and moved to Arizona ten years ago. I am a third-year teacher, encouraged to become one by Sydney, my wife of eight years. She is an incredible teacher at Johnson Elementary, and has inspired me to make a difference in children's lives just as she does. I student-taught at Rhodes and am now in my second year of teaching here. I received my Bachelors degree in English and Secondary Education from Ottowa University, and am currently pursuing my Masters in Reading through Grand Canyon University.
Teaching English and Reading seemed a natural choice for me, as I am an avid reader and struggling writer of fiction. I am unpublished as yet, but I remain undeterred. It is my love for reading and writing that I hope to instill in my students. I want them to come away with the understanding that not only will these skill sets help them in their academic and professional careers, but that they can also be the source of a lifetime of intellectual pursuit and inquiry.
I feel honored to be a part of the Rhodes family, and will continue to strive to live up to that honor.
