Biography
My name is Lela Temple and I teach high school math at Riverview High. I teach Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. At Riverview, we use a math program called Aleks. This program allows students to work at their own pace covering the material in whatever class they are assigned to. Aleks teaches the concepts step-by-step in a logical manner and tests the students as they go. The program does not allow the student to advance to other topics until they master the one they are working on. As the students work on their computers, I help them with whatever they need. The students get to work individually, in small groups and one-on-one with the teacher.
Mesa schools is dedicated to graduating students who have demonstrated essential attitudes which include ethical, inclusive, and resilient behaviors and essential skills such as being collaborators, communicators, creative thinkers and problem solvers. The Aleks program ensures that each student is using these skills on a regular basis.
I have taught elementary grades, elementary music, and junior high and high school math. Teaching is my passion and I love teaching at Riverview. The students are eager to learn and we have fun in my classes.
I have 3 sons and 6 grandchildren and I live in Mesa, Arizona.
