Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Bylaws
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: Students must be enrolled in 5 classes and pass all classes at the end of each grading period. Seniors must be enrolled in a minimum of 4 classes if on track to graduate. Contact the Athletics Office for clarification.
CODE OF CONDUCT: Participation in high school athletics is regarded as a privilege. Student-athletes and their parents must electronically sign the school's Code of Conduct.
PHYSICALS / ELIGIBILITY DOCUMENTS: Online eligibility documents must be submitted to the Athletics Office. Student eligibility must be approved prior to the start of tryouts. Physicals dated after March 1 of the current school year may be accepted for the following school year.
ATTENDANCE BOUNDARIES: Student-athletes are eligible in the school attendance boundaries in which they reside. If a student-athlete does not live in a school's boundaries, (s)he must have an approved open enrollment form on file and meet all other AIA eligibility requirements.
CHARTER SCHOOLS: Charter school students are not eligible to participate in athletics for any other school. If a sport is not offered at their school, they are still not eligible to participate at another school.
HOME SCHOOLED: If registered with the State Department of Education, home schooled students are eligible in the school attendance boundaries in which they reside. Home schooled students must meet all other eligibility requirements.
AGE LIMIT: Student-athletes are eligible for 8 semesters from the time of enrollment in 9th grade. If a student becomes 19 years of age after September 1, (s)he is eligible for the remainder of the school year.
