Orchestra student earns national honor

Josh Zimpfer named to American String Teachers Association National Honor Orchestra

From John Haggard, Director of Orchestras, Red Mountain High School:

"I would like to share some very exciting news with you. Josh Zimpfer, string bass player and Red Mountain High School Senior was recently accepted into the American String Teachers Association National Honor Orchestra. This orchestra performs at the National ASTA Convention (this year held in Louisville in March) and is held once every two years. To be included in this high calibre ensemble, one must be a member of the previous year's All-State Ensemble and submit an application with a recording of the student's playing. Arizona is well represented in the ASTA National Orchestra, but to my knowledge, Josh is the only MPS student invited to perform. He is also the first RMHS Orchestra student to be named to this prestigious orchestra in over ten years."

We here at Red Mountain are very proud of this accomplishment by Josh, which serves as another shining example of the great things being done by all of the students who make our performing arts department one of the best, not only in Mesa, but throughout the state of Arizona.
