  • Passed $100 to purchase Jarritos for fundraiser at Relay for Life
  • Gabi, Will, and Reanna will check on the status canopy.
  • Each students must bring their own folding chair and blanket to Relay and money for food.
  • $50 passed for materials to make Relay for Life Roaring 20's Dresses.
  • Sketch banner for Relay, will start construction next week
  • Decorations for tent will be musical instruments in butcher paper and frindges.
  • Michelle will bring BOOMBOX and Gabi will provide the musical selection
  • Gabi must check on tamales availability.
  • Deadline for t-shirt is $100 by March 5th in your account.

Minutes for 1-8-14

  • We are planning on building a pinata next week! Once it's done, we will be filling it and breaking it. Date TBA.
  • We will be looking into doing a service project as a club.
  • We are planning on taking a field trip, but where and when is up in the air. Details will be announced once we have figured it out.
  • This is the last time we are selling candy. Please remember to return your money to the book store after the sales are done!

Minutes for 10-30-13

  • Today was our Dia de los Muertos. We lit candles in remembrance for those who have passed.
  • We discussed the idea of a Christmas tree that incorporates all of the Red Mountain clubs. More details will come later
  • The next couple of weeks we will be watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Come prepared to kick back and watch this fantastic movie with us!

  • Today we finished up our ofrenda! We will be setting it up at the Mesa Arts Center on Thursday, October 24th. Feel free to come join us for this exciting event!
  • Remember to bring a food item to share next club meeting 10/30 as we celebrate dia de los muertos together.
  • After Dia de los Muertos, we plan to spend a couple weeks watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
  • We also moved to have a candy sale fundraiser for Dec 1st through the 10th.

  • Today we finished up our ofrenda! We will be setting it up at the Mesa Arts Center on Thursday, October 24th. Feel free to come join us for this exciting event!
  • The Pulsera sale was a great success! We raised $465, all of which will go to benefit teens in the country of Nicaragua. Congratulations Spanish Club!
  • After Dia de los Muertos, we plan to spend a couple weeks watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Minutes for 10-2-13

  • Today we finished up our crafts for the altar! We need to get everything together by 10-16-13. It will be set up at the Mesa Arts Center on Thursday, October 24th. You are welcome to join us to help set up our altar.
  • If you missed out on your chance to buy a t-shirt, we have some available! The club has 1 small, 2 medium, and 1 large available for $9.50. See Senora LuzHoxsie if you want one.
  • Tailgate was very successful! We made $205 for the Nicaraguan teenagers from the Pulsera sales. We also made $152 dollars in funds for the Spanish club from the sale of Jaritos. Thank you to everyone that participated!

Minutes for 9-25-13

  • Tailgate is this Friday! We'll be selling our pulseras and Mexican soda. Be prepared to help us out and have a blast at tailgate!
  • Following tailgate, there's the homecoming football game. Spanish club will be in the halftime parade! Come help us show off our club. Admission is free with participation in the parade.
  • We're wrapping up the art projects for our ofrenda. Next week we're going to put it all together to see what it looks like! 

Minutes for 9-18-13

  • The bracelets from the Pulsera  Project have arrived! We will be selling them at tailgate (9-27-13) and at the homecoming football game that follows. Sign up to help us sell to make money for the less fortunate.
  • During the homecoming game, the Club will be participating in the halftime parade. Be sure to sign up to show off our club at the parade.
  • T-shirt orders have been placed. However, if you didn't get a chance to get a shirt, you can contact Alex at 480-396-9976 to place your order.
  • We are still making our ofrenda for the competition at the Mesa Arts Center. Be prepared to help us make this project come alive. 

Minutes for 9-11-13

  • Today we ordered t-shirts. If you did not not get a chance to order one, you can order one on. To order your t-shirt, contact Alex Bertram at (480)-396-9976 by September 19, 2013.
  • We worked in our groups for the ofrenda. Be prepared to bring your creativity to the next weekend so we can make progress on the ofrenda!
  • Remember that tailgate is on 9-28-13. Please make sure to sign up to help with the fundraiser and/or participate in the half-time parade.

Minutes for 9-4-13

  • Please remember to bring in money for the candy fundraiser! If you do not pay your $8 for the bag you checked out, it will count as a debt on your student account. If the debt is not paid, you cannot graduate.
  • We have a final design for the t-shirt! If you want to order one, please bring in money by next week. However, if you do not pay next week, the t-shirt design will be available online, but shipping will cost more. The pricing for the shirts are as follows:

           -White shirts cost $13

           -Gray shirts cost $16

           -Black shirts cost $18

The design can be in black & white or color. There is no additional charge for a color logo.

  • Today we worked on our ofrenda. The club broke into groups to create different aspects of the altar. The groups are:

          - Papel picado

          -Skeleton

          -Photos of Red Montain activities

          -Food

          -Momentos of Red Mountain

  • We approved $90 to buy candy for an upcoming fundraiser.

Minutes for 8-28-13

  • The t-shirt design has been somewhat decided! Our design will include a black and white mountain lion wearing a sombrero and a red chili pepper lanyard. It will include the name of the school, a paw print, maracas, and the year of the club.
  • We bagged candy to be sold to raise funds for the Spanish Club. Each bag is worth $8, and if you check one out, it will count as a debt in the bookstore if you do not return the $8.
  • We have voted on participating in an altar contest for Dia de los Muertos at the Mesa Arts Center. Bring in ideas for the altar next week.
  • Next week we will be discussing tailgate, the success of the fundraiser, and the design for the altar.

Minutes for 8-21-13

  • The t-shirt design will incorporate different ideas from the members of the Spanish Club. The shirt will display a mountain lion eating habanero peppers with a lion's paw print on the sleeve along with the year.
  • The Spanish Club has motioned to participate in the Pulsera Project. This is a project where impoverished citizens of Nicaragua make bracelets to be sold in the U.S. The funds raised from each bracelet will be shipped back to Nicaragua and used to help the "Si a La Vida" organization. This organization's purpose is to help to keep teenagers off the streets and house them in shelters.  The Spanish Club has elected to sell these bracelets at home football games and send the money back to Nicaragua.
  • The Spanish Club has elected to buy more popular flavors of Jarrito's (Mexican soda) to sell at tailgate. These flavors will be strawberry, orange, and pineapple.
