Biography

Welcome to my little space on the Red Mountain High School website. This is my first year teaching at RMHS, and my 11th year total. Before moving to Arizona, I lived my entire life in Nebraska. I went to Central High School where I played football and baseball, and truly began my love of learning and reading. I completed my bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and then continued to receive a M.Ed. in Teaching from Creighton University, and an M.F.A in Writing from the University of Nebraska.

Before becoming a teacher, I was as a zookeeper at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo. I’ve worked with a variety of animals, including those in the Lied Jungle, the Desert Dome, and the Cat and Bear Complex. I loved my time working with animals, but after assisting with countless high school science projects I realized that teaching was something to consider.

My goal as an instructor is to prepare my students for success in their future endeavors to the best of my abilities, and to become productive members of the community.
