The 2017-2018 school year will be my 14th year as a counselor for Mesa Public Schools. The past 13 years I've had the pleasure of serving SHARP School students. This year I'm excited to be joining the Red Mountain advisement department on a full time basis! My daughter was a student here for 4 years and just graduated last school year so my roots as a Lion are strong!
Prior to coming to SHARP, I was a therapist in group homes and residential treatment centers, where I worked with youth to achieve personal goals in the areas of recovery and behavioral health.
My undergraduate path began as a Music Education major at Indiana University - Bloomington. While attending school there, I enjoyed performing in the Marching Hundred during football season and serving as pledge class president for the Music Sorority Tau Beta Sigma.
As time went on and I began studying the educational side of Music, I found a new interest in psychology and made the decision to switch majors. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University.
I went on to study Community Counseling through the University of Phoenix Master's Program and received additional training through their K-12 School Guidance Counseling Program.
I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and caring for our own rescue dog & cats, previously fostering through The Arizona Animal Welfare League & Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. I'm one of the founders of the rescue group Medical Animals In Need (M.A.I.N.). My daughter is a 2017 graduate of Red Mountain High School. She spent 4 summers volunteering with the City of Mesa youth programs and earned a black belt in Karate in elementary school. She's currently serving patients at a Care Facility in Gilbert as a recreation aid and is furthering her education at Mesa Community College.
