Science Department Mission and Vision
The mission of the Red Mountain High School science department is to equip all students with a sound grasp of scientific concepts and the ability to apply them. Our curriculum and classroom practices emphasize scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and effective communication as we strive to provide students with the knowledge and confidence to navigate an increasingly complex, technological world and to function as responsible, informed citizens.
Our vision is that students will actively construct knowledge by exploring, questioning, brainstorming and discussing in small and large groups what they have observed through laboratory experiences that emphasize the process that is science. They will work to make sense of their observations, to represent their observations in a manner that enables them to adequately describe or explain what they have witnessed as well as to make predictions regarding new situations. Students will communicate their ideas and work together to solve novel problems. Finally, students will reflect on their learning as they strive to connect new concepts to prior knowledge.
