Mrs. Holly Benza
Welcome back to Red Mountain for the 2021-2022 school year! I have taught for twenty-five years in Mesa Public Schools. The first seven were in junior high and then fourteen years at a sister high school and the last two have been here at Red Mountain. I have been a Title I Specialist in the district as well. I have had many roles in our district, but my favorite is working with high school students every day. I have always felt connected to Red Mountain since it is where I went to high school and I started my teaching.
My kids also attend Mesa Public Schools. Matthew will be a freshman this year at Red Mountain and Jonas will be in 6th grade at Zaharis Elementary.
I love to go camping with my family because it is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy nature. This is probably why I also love running because I like to get out in nature. I have taught American Government and Psychology for the last ten years give or take a year. I have taught both regular and advanced placement for American Government and Psychology. These are two of my favorite subjects. I love that you can find these subjects in our everyday lives.
I am a product of Mesa Public Schools. I went to junior high (Fremont and Shepherd) and high school (Red Mountain) in the district. My bachelor's degree is from Arizona State University in Secondary Education Social Studies. My master's degree is from Northern Arizona University with an emphasis in Special Education. I am looking forward to working with you this year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. My goal is for your child to be successful in my class. I want them to learn the skills necessary to move on to college or their career.
I look forward to meeting you this year. I promise we will have some fun and learn lots of great information along the way.
Please check out the other tabs on my webpage to learn more about your classes, canvas, and things we will do this semester.
