Mr. Barge began his tenure at Red Mountain in 2012. Originally from Blue Springs, Missouri, Coach Barge attended to college at the University of Wyoming on a football scholarship. He was a 4-yr. letter winner in football and a 2-yr. letter winner in track. Coach Barge was a part of the 2024 Las Vegas Bowl Champion Cowboys Football Team where he played for previous Red Mountain Head Coach Ron Wisniewski. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education/Teaching Education.
Mr. Barge began his teaching career at Laramie Junior High School in 2007. He taught Junior High Physical Education while coaching varsity football and track at Laramie High School. He helped guide Laramie back the football playoffs in 2009, their first visit to the post season since 2002, he also coaches 7 individual state champions while a part of the Track & Field coaching staff.
In 2010, Coach Barge was offered the Head Football and Track position at Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. A small 1A private military boarding school, Coach Barge helped Wentworth bring home the Golden Football, a traveling trophy with Rival Missouri Military Academy. He also was the driving force behind Wentworth restarting its annual indoor track and field meet.
In addition to his head coaching duties, Coach Barge was a Weight Training Instructor and Health Instructor at both the high school and junior college levels. He also was a member of the Admissions Department. During his tenure, Wentworth's enrollment increased 25%, and was the re-emergence of its Junior College Athletics Program.
Since starting at Red Mountain he has been involved with training multiple sports teams. He has worked with all three levels of football, boys & girl’s track & field/Cross Country, boys & girls swimming, boys & girls volleyball, badminton, girls tennis, and girls soccer.
Since 2010 Coach Barge has been a certified sports trainer with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists® (CSCS®) are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. They conduct sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and provide guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention.
