The study of language is made much easier through constant exposure to language and ideas, so please encourage reading, discussion, writing, and exposure to music and art.

Art and Music

National Gallery of Art - Located in Washington D.C., the NGA "serve(s) the United States of America by preserving, collecting, exhibiting, and fostering the understanding of works of art, at the highest possible professional and scholarly standards."

Phoenix Art Museum -  Located in our own backyard, the museum  houses an "outstanding collection of more than 17,000 works of American, Asian, European, Latin American, Western American, modern and contemporary art, and fashion design. Visitors can also enjoy PhxArtKids an interactive space for children."

The Louvre - Mrs. Martin's favorite!  An art lover's mecca, the Louvre is home to some of the world's greatest treasures including the Mona Lisa, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, and countless pieces from antiquity. Check out their link called "Learning About Art."  And, yes...the site is in English!

1,000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die - One in the series called "1,000 Things..."  This website features a "listener's life list" to challenge our ideas about the world of music.  Everything from classical to rock, jazz to country...with suggestions and ideas about what makes each piece a must listen.
