Thank you for visiting my page! I'm Nick Karantionos, and I've been an educator for 29 years. I have been teaching here at Red Mountain since 1989. Prior to becoming a Mountain Lion, I taught at Mountain View High School from 1987-1989, Ajo High School in Ajo, AZ from 1985-1987, and Jordan High School in Jordan, MN from 1983-1985. Subjects I have taught include Government, American History, World History, Economics, and Health Education.
I have a B. A. Degree in Social Studies and Health & Physical Education from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and an MA in Education from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff AZ.
During my 29 year career I have also been proud to coach wrestling, football, track and tennis.
Coaching Awards and Accomplishments:
In 2011 Nick was inducted into the Arizona High School Coaches Hall of Fame, the South Dakota Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Red Mountain High School Hall of Fame. Karantinos also served as Arizona Wrestling Coaches Association President 1996-1998, 2000-2002 - USA Arizona National Team Coach 1990-2005 - East Valley Region Wrestling Representative 1995-2005 - State Championship 1994 - East Valley Region Championships 1994-1995, 1998, 2000, and 2005 - 5-A Coach of the Year 1994 - NCAA II National Runner up / All-American 1983 - Career Varsity Wrestling Record (452-87-1) 1983, Second Winingest Arizona Wrestling Coach of All times for All Classifications and winningest 5A/Divison I wrestling coach in 2008.
